Bamnoli Boating

Bamnoli/Tapola Boting

Bamnoli, Boating till Tapola in Shivsagar Lake and Kaas Lake

Shivsagar Lake, Bamnoli side

After visiting the Kas pathar in the morning, I decided to goto Bamnoli from where one can get a boat ride

Shivsagar Lake

to Tapola the base of Bamnoli. Bamnoli is located 15 km from the Kas pathar. I took the after ST which arrives at 1.30 pm. The road climbs till the Kas lake and from there it’s all downhill with good views of the Shivsagar Lake, which is formed due to Koyna dam.

Bamnoli is a small village besides the lake and is completely dependent on it for revenues. From Bamnoli there are various ferry rides to Datta Mandir(45 mins), Tapola(1 hour), Vasota fort and Nageshwar Temple (Complete Day), etc. I had decided to take the Tapola ferry which cost Rs 630 for 6 persons. As there was not sufficient visitors I shared with only 2 other persons, so per head it was Rs
Boating in Shivsagar Lake

It is fun scenic ride, though the boat is just a motor boat, not a power boat, the noise of the engine is very loud. On the one side you see the Mahabaleshwar hill station and on the other side you see the windmills.

After the boat ride, I visited the Kas Lake, its 12 km from Bamnoli, it is a small lake which supplies water to Satara, there are of hotels And resorts by Koyna River Agro Tourisam Stay and Good Food eateries around this place. at Kas pathar, so have to come here in this village. It’s a nice picnic spot around the lake.

Kaas Lake

Advance booked a room in Koyna RiverAgroTourisam, night stay, decent room with hot water So my first day of Kas Pathar trip has been completed. I was able to see Kas pathar, Bamnoli boat ride, and Kas Lake. Tomorrow I had plans for Thoseghar Waterfalls and Sajjangad.

Tapola – The Mini Kashmir

Famously called the mini Kashmir of the west is a rustic hamlet with a magnificent lake – Shivsagar. A 90 km long water body Shivsagar lake is in fact the backwaters of the Koyna dam near Kolhapur! Tapola is a great sightseeing option near Kas Pathar 15 kms down the hill on the way to Kas Pathar from Bamnoli. tapola is also the base to Vasota jungle trek.

Shivsagar Boat Club

The Koyna backwaters is the main attraction of Tapola and the Shivsagar boat club arranges water sports kayaking and boating in this vast water body which spreads ove 90 sqkm.

There are many strawberry farms and nurseries of Gerberra around Tapola. Apart from the Shivsagar boat club and the seasonal waterfalls around there many options of sightseeing if you take to boating in Tapola lake. Bamnoli on the shores of Shivsagar lake is a beautiful village by the lake. Ascend the ghats from Bamnoli and you are at the beautiful seasonal flower beds of Kas Pathar which is a must do especially in Aug – Sept.

Sightseeing in Tapola

A satellite village of Mahabaleshwar, Tapola is a quaint village now popular for the river camps and agro tourism centres which have spawned along the banks of the lake. Tapola is the base to Vasota jungle trek and is also a chosen stay option near Kas Pathar for the want of accommodation options in Kas Pathar ( Koyna RiverAgroTourisam) during the flowering season.

Tapola is a sightseeing option near Mahabaleshwar specially during and after monsoons. Tapola is 25 kms downhill from Mahabaleshwar from ‘Aaram chowk’ and is the end of roads of sorts.

The land of Maharashtra is gifted with many nature wonders. The waterfall is situated in district of Satara in western Maharashtra. This is part of Kas pathar / Flower Valley. The lush green mountains and the flowers in nearby flower valley please your senses. The pleasant weather actually relaxes you like anything. But the star attraction of this place is tranquility. The place is simply deserted and there are no hawkers, unwanted guides and cameramen to disturb you.

At the outset, when you see this waterfall from a distance then it doesn’t seem to be a waterfall also. You just see a white thread on the rocky background of Sahyadris. But when you reach near the waterfall and just have a look at it, and then you understand the enormity of it. The roaring water flows at very high speed and you can’t hear anything when you are in the vicinity of the fall. The height of this waterfall is 852 feet and it falls from a straight cliff. The water for waterfall comes from the river Urmodi. It is origin of river Urmodi.

Ekiv Waterfall

The great Ekiv Waterfall totally seems to be animated Very less people are aware about Ekiv Waterfall but is one of the great Ekiv Waterfall in Satara District Similar to Thoseghar waterfall but here we can even go below the waterfall &, enjoy the fun of getting wet , Avoid visiting this place the evening as there are Tigers seen on the roads afer the daylight.

A great place to visit in monsoon ( August to October ) as it can be viewed in its Ekiv Waterfall serenity and flow during that period.

A good Alternative to mulshi and lonavala.

Good scenic Ekiv Waterfall just 3 km detour on the Way of kaas plateau or Kaas Lake.

One of the most Beautiful Ekiv Waterfall also underrated due to low popularity of it.

One must go for it and enjoy the sweetcorn and Maggie!!!

The views was so beautiful you can tep down into water safely where flow is in slow speed small stalls.

Around where you can take small beverages like tea, coffee, Maggie, and corn.

Best place to spend a couple of hours.

Koyna River

The Koyna River is a tributary of the Krishna River which originates in Mahableshwar, Satara district, western Maharashtra, India. It rises near Mahabaleshwar, a famous hill station in the Western Ghats. Unlike most of the other rivers in Maharashtra which flow East-West direction, the Koyna river flows in North-South direction. The Koyna River is famous for the Koyna Dam and the Koyna Hydroelectric Project. Today the Koyna Hydroelectric Project is the largest completed hydroelectric project in India. The reservoir – Shivasagar Lake, is a huge lake of 50 km in length.

Due to its electricity generating potential through Koyna Hydroelectric Project, Koyna river is known as the Life Line of Maharashtra

The river meets the Krishna River, which is one of the three largest rivers in southern India by Karad at Pritisangam

The river is just about 100 meters in width and is slow-flowing. It is an olive shade of green during the dry months and a bluish-brown in the monsoon months attributed to much algae and aquatic plant life. The impounded water of the Koyna Dam though has submerged a significant amount of Rain forest of the Western Ghats, it has helped a lot to the surrounding forest by supplying water all round the year. Hence a wide biodiversity of plants and animals is observed in the evergreen forest surrounding the river.
